I Love Sports! Here's My AAU Experience

I love sports. I play soccer with my cousin, and I play football with my neighbors sometimes. My favorite sport, though, is basketball. I’ve been on many teams, but the most competitive one is called In The Zone Basketball Club which is an AAU team. I played the small forward on the team, which is the position players like LeBron James, Scottie Pippen, and Paul Pierce play. We had a coach who was the father of the point guard. We played in a lot of complexes in New Jersey, Maryland, and Pennsylvania. My favorite place we played at was Spooky Nook. It was one of, if not the best, AAU experiences I’ve ever had. After the games, we could go to arcades, foam areas, and more. It was awesome.

If you ever were to ask me, “What’s your favorite win?” I couldn’t tell you, because my team lost every single game we played. We didn’t win one game. I averaged about 4 to 5 points per game. It was a sad time in my basketball career. We’ve gotten really close on some matches, even lead on others, but we never closed out a game.

The team I played with were friends to me. We talked amongst each other, we played pick-up games together, we were brothers. During training sessions I participated in were with them. The team I played with was awesome. The starting line-up was consistent. The point guard (the son of our coach), acted like he owned the team, yet still remained humble during games. He still had a hot temper, which he fueled his game with. The shooting guard looked like Gary from Dude Perfect, and he once hit an end of game, buzzer beater, far out 3-pointer. We still lost the game, though. The power forward was me. The small forward was huge, he looked like an 8th grader, but he was a 6th grader. Our center was kind of timid. He didn’t talk to the team much. He still put in work, don’t get me wrong, but he wasn’t as close with everyone as he could’ve been.

My dad recorded most of the games with his phone. They are on my YouTube channel that is linked to the About Me page. The videos were for everyone on the team, including me, to watch and learn how to get better. They were also available to my family to watch. They were also for me to brag to my cousin.

AAU was an awesome experience, and one of the best in my basketball career. It isn’t the only team I played on, though. I played on another team, which I will eventually post about in the near future. I am looking forward to playing on my school’s team, and if I do, I will post about.
